Some people are complaining they recently received a call at home from a call centre operator in India who try to represent themselves as Microsoft or a Window’s service centre..they ask for you to go to a website to renew your warranty on your computer and give you a code. They then set remote access to your PC supposedly to help you solve some problems and then are looking to charge your for that or some ancillary service.
This is a scam and do not let anyone have access to your home network unless they are from a trusted source
Microsoft’s warning is as follows:
Microsoft would like to warn Australians to be wary of phone scams. Microsoft does not cold call customers in regards to malfunctioning PCS or viruses and we advise Australians to simply hang up if you receive a call of this nature and not to respond to any communications from these scammers.
